Adam Southey was born and raised in the Fort Worth area and developed an appreciation for land at an early age. Some of his favorite childhood memories were made on his grandparents' ranch, where he spent countless hours outdoors with his family. Those experiences created a lifelong connection to the land and an appreciation for large ranches and wide-open spaces that has stayed with him ever since. Today, Adam lives with his family just down the road from where that ranch once stood.
After graduating from Texas Christian University in 2005, Adam began his career in residential real estate before shifting his focus entirely to land. He started as a land investor and later expanded into the brokerage side of the business. What began as a passion for finding and investing in land quickly became the focus of his career.
Over the years, Adam has been involved in hundreds of land transactions through his own investments, partnerships, consulting, and brokerage. He has bought and invested in land throughout the United States, giving him firsthand experience across a wide variety of markets, property types, and deal structures. Today, his work as a Land Specialist focuses on recreational properties, ranches, large acreage, and rural homesites.
Adam is also the co-host of the Casual Fridays REI podcast, a show dedicated to land investing and the land business. With more than 500 episodes recorded, Adam has spent years discussing virtually every aspect of buying, selling, marketing, and investing in land. That experience, combined with his own transactions in the field, gives him a perspective on the land business that extends far beyond traditional real estate brokerage.
Adam's path to Big Horn Land & Estates was largely shaped by his relationship with founder Greg Clearman. Greg's commitment to serving clients and putting their interests first made a lasting impression on Adam, and his vision for Big Horn aligned closely with Adam's own approach to the land business. Adam joined Big Horn to help grow the company's presence in Texas and believes he has found the brokerage where he intends to spend the remainder of his career.
Above all, Adam is devoted to his wife, Sarah, and their daughters, Emily and Presley. When he isn't working, most of his time is spent with his family—whether traveling to Norman to visit Emily at the University of Oklahoma, supporting Presley through her cheer schedule, or cheering on the Aledo Bearcats in the community they proudly call home.
